Sky Blue Builders, LLC (SBB) is a Colorado based general contractor and construction management firm specializing in commercial renovation, land development / infrastructure and general repair / maintenance for private and government entities.

SBB was started in January 2007 and begin in residential renovation and transitioned to commercial construction in 2008. Since 2007 SBB has grown from a two man team and $80K in revenue to eight employees and $1.5M in revenue in the 1st half of 2010.

Management Team:

Mowa Haile – President & CEO

Mowa Haile is responsible for articulating the vision for the company and lead the implementation of the company's short and long term goals. He will work closely with the team in monitoring the daily operations of the company and focus on strategic, tactical, and operations management and improvement. Haile will have an integral role in creating and developing customer relationships that deliver the company's products/services. Haile has over 15 years of operations and real estate experience.

Mowa holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Colorado State University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Mowa is a Board Member of Venture Prep, a free, rigorous, public charter school in Denver whose mission is to prepare all 6-12th grade students for college and career success.

Joe Sewell – CFO

Joe Sewell is responsible for financial planning, reporting and record-keeping for the company. Joe is experienced in real estate and land development construction and was the V.P. of Land Acquisitions for DR Horton for over 5 years. Joe has been involved in the purchase and construction of thousands of lots throughout Denver’s Front Range from Ft. Collins to Colorado Springs. Prior to working in Acquisitions Joe was the Land Development Manager for DR Horton for 4 years before moving into acquisitions. Joe also spent 5 years at Writer Homes (currently Standard Pacific) as their Development Manager. His strengths include contract negotiations, financial operations, construction observation, and quality control, municipal coordination and has developed excellent relationships with trades and municipalities across Colorado.

Joe received his B.A. in Social Sciences from the University of California at Irvine and was a pitcher for the Houston Astros from 1991 to 1994. Joe volunteers his time to coach youth baseball, soccer and football.

Matt Collitt – COO

Matt Collitt is experienced in land development, residential and commercial construction. During his 15 years in the industry he has developed over 10,000 lots and over 1,000 structures. Consequently, Matt fully understands the entire construction process; from breaking ground to completion, and can manage projects ranging from hundreds of dollars to millions of dollars. Matt’s skills include construction planning, scheduling, quality control, cost control, and municipal coordination. Matt is skilled at supervising diverse personnel and has developed excellent relationships with trade partners and municipal authorities.

Matt received his Bachelor of Science in Site Planning and Development from Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. Matt is a Board Member & Treasurer of the Louviers Water and Sanitation District in the Village of Louviers.

Bill McCombie P.E. – V.P. - Engineering & Project Management

Bill McCombie is responsible for quality of design, cost effectiveness, project coordination with public and municipal entities, and project completion through construction coordination. Before joining Sky Blue Builders, Bill McCombie was President of JeHN Engineering and responsible for oversight of multiple projects, with several teams of engineers and architects, obtaining approval from the various local, state and federal agencies with a history of on time delivery and within budget. Prior to JeHN Engineering Bill worked for Greiner and was resident engineer at Denver International Airport for three years and oversaw successful completion of $50 million of infrastructure and five buildings.

Bill received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from University of Wisconsin at Platteville. Bill served on the Finance Committee of his local church and was the President of the Green Mountain Swim Club and currently volunteers at the Jeffco Action Center.

John Gutierrez – V.P. - Northern Colorado Operations

John Gutierrez has over 15 years of construction experience. John’s experience ranges from agricultural, ditch canal, water structure, curb and gutter and commercial building across Colorado and Arizona. Previous to Sky Blue Builders, John worked for Can-Do-Concrete, a regional flatwork construction firm as the Lead Estimator and Superintendent. John also worked for MW Golden Constructors and was Project Manager for the construction of the Fire Tower for the City of Castle Rock and renovation of fire training facility for the City of Parker.

John is a Member of the Youth Commission Board at the Rodarte Community Center in Greeley, CO and the Head Cross Country Coach and Assistance Distance Coach at the University of Northern Colorado.
